The North Carolina Sierra Club has endorsed Senator Blue in his 2010 campaign for NC Senate.

In its endorsement letter, the Club writes:

The North Carolina Sierra Club is endorsing your campaign in the upcoming 2010 election.  In order to make an endorsement, the Sierra Club looks for consistent leadership and a voting record ... that aligns with, and promotes the goals of, the North Carolina Sierra Club.  Your leadership on behalf of our state's environment is commendable... [W]ith your continued support, we can overcome threats to our state's natural resources and to the health of our citizens.

Thanks Sierra Club!

The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 with the mission to explore, enjoy and protect the planet. Named “the most influential environmental organization” in an Aspen Institute poll, the Sierra Club gives the public the information and the means to make their voices heard. As the world’s oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization, the Club’s 750,000 members in 65 chapters and over 400 local groups nationwide possess the unique ability to empower people and influence public policy through community activism, public education, outreach and litigation.

Established in 1970, the North Carolina Chapter advocates across the state and in our capitol, from the mountains to the coast, for a clean, healthy North Carolina safe for both current and future citizens. As of 2009, the Chapter has 17,000 members and 13 local groups across the state, a statewide office in downtown Raleigh, and a field office in Charlotte.
